Queen’s Yarn Boutique

What’s your story?

I started dyeing yarn because when I went into yarn shops, I could not find the colorways that I had in my head. So, I decided to dye my own colorways! My hobby became my small business. I am not afraid of color! The brighter, the bolder, the more vibrant...the better! I am originally from Southern Virginia so I grew up with an appreciation for animal and plant based fiber. My stepmother taught me how to sew, cross stitch, crochet and latch hook when I was very young. I am a self-taught knitter. I started Queen's Yarn Boutique in 2014. I sold handmade crochet items, project bags, stitch markers and progress keepers. I made the goal to start hand dyeing yarn in 2016 and finally achieved that goal during the summer of 2017. My shop name, Queen’s Yarn Boutique, is inspired by my amazing Grandma Queen. My yarn bases are named after Prince songs. My love for Prince music all started after my daddy played Diamonds and Pearls on cassette tape when I was a little girl.

Where are you located?

I live in Eastern North Carolina and I can't wait to see my customers at the next in-person fiber festival. Most of my fiber festivals are in North Carolina or Virginia.

What are your values?

My values as a business owner is to provide excellent customer service and to be a source of positivity in the yarn community. My hope for the future of the yarn community is that we be kind to one another. I believe that we should use our crazy love/obsession for yarn, fiber and textiles as a way to create positivity. It is also very important to me to be sustainable in my business. I repurpose and reuse materials and supplies as much as possible when dyeing yarn.

What can we find at Queen’s Yarn Boutique?

I offer luxury hand dyed yarn made of superwash merino, cotton, merino nylon cashmere, Blue Faced Leicester and tweed.

Are you open to collaborations or custom work?
