What’s your story?

Nellie Rose Textiles simply follows my artistic tendencies, whims & focused making practices. It ebbs and flows as a person tends to. Back in its conception in 2013 I focused on what I studied & apprenticed in—traditional Japanese hand-dyeing techniques. I designed, hand-dyed, sewed, and pleated elegant collections of scarves, which primarily found their homes in wholesale markets. My practice evolved and moved away from traditional methods and production/wholesale work as I grew as an artist. I found my own voice expressed in bold, playful hand painting (with dyes) on silk, cotton, and linen yardage for unique surface design that felt like honest core samples of “me”, but now with a confident foundation of craftsmanship thanks to the incredible people I am lucky to have learned from. I jumped into self-drafting patterns, cutting and sewing these special “stories” on cloth into one-of-a-kind clothing. Consequently I also moved away from wholesale and am now focused on very small batch production. I have a tiny brick & mortar shop/studio where I make and sell my work directly to folks.

What are your values?

My values are rooted in small-batch, sustainably made, low-impact, & low-to-zero waste as possible practices. I want to make slowly and deliberately. In my work, I aim to make clothing that embraces and celebrates YOU. The trueheartedness of your playfulness, the confidence in your strangeness, the courage in your own tenacious self expression.
