Last Chance Textiles

What’s your story?

My name is Lindsey Fout, and I’m the textile designer and owner behind Last Chance Textiles, a collection of colorfully patterned bandanas and scarves inspired by historical textiles and the stories they tell. Last Chance Textiles has an aesthetic rooted in the American West. I get inspiration from the vast landscapes and utilitarian, vintage western wear. This creates a lens and setting to explore broader themes like historical and traditional textile motifs from around the globe.

I have a background in fashion design, but after a few years designing for an activewear company, I realized I was close but hadn’t quite found my niche- which prompted my return to school at FIDM for Textile and Surface Design. After a few years working with other companies, I started to consider working on my product line. Bandannas were an “ah-ha” moment, a perfect way to apply my love for print design into a practical and fun product.

What are your values?

The technique and process are at the core of each of our collections. It matters very much to me how things are made. What I love most about textiles is that they are closely tied to place, culture, and history. These are very significant and intimate objects for humankind, which makes them powerful entities. Textiles are at once both a personal tool for self-expression and a thread through time. Each Last Chance bandana and scarf is meant to be functional, treasured, and kept close. Something you’ll never leave behind!
