What’s your story?

In 2011, I moved to the Bay Area to receive my BFA in Textiles at California College of the Arts. I had the opportunity to work in different textile related companies in the US, and in 2017 I decided to moved back to Guatemala.

It became very difficult to find my path once I got back. It’s kind of complicated to figure out what you want when you’re young and with infinite ideas in mind. In a certain way, I believe life put me in the correct direction. My journey started when people I knew recommended me for various projects, and not knowing much how to get started I decided to use my skills and take them. In the beginning, I made a lot of mistakes along the way but I guess that’s how you start something new.

Each day, we learn how to do things the right way. We have been doing all kinds of projects and products for almost three years. Edel is a creative studio based on textile development in Guatemala City. We emerged by constantly seeking preserving and transforming Guatemalan textile heritage through processes and artisan techniques. Our mission is to create positive change trough the exchange of knowledge and empowerment of creative leaders.

We believe it's the best way to ensure they are well paid for their time and skills.
